Mrs R Clark (Substitute Governor Ex-Officio)

I seem to have spent most of my life in the classroom! I started school at three years of age, as teachers were in very short supply in the post war years and my mother was allowed to take me into school with her. My primary school years were spent at Glynarthen CP School….a very similar building to Denton, with three classrooms…..my secondary years at cardigan Grammar School, and my higher education years at Cyn-Coed College of Education (now known as Cardiff Metropolitan University) in cardiff. Initially I taught in the vale of Glamorgan, and when I was married taught at Grimsby and in Norfolk. I eventually came to Grantham and taught at Spitalgate School holding responsibility for Geography and RE development. Following my retirement I became a guide at Belvoir Castle and was given the post of Educational Co-ordinator. I am still a guide and still oversee school visits, but my main responsibility is being Head Hawker and looking after the Birds of Prey.

I have been a scout leader for over thirty years and ran my own group in Barrowby until faily recently. I am still involved with the Scout Activity Support Unit and frequently help out with groups needing support. I frequently visit schools and other establishments such as WIs to talk about various aspects of Victorian life and share my collection of Victorian artefacts. I also have an interesting talk about the Witches of Belvoir.. a true and eerie story!! I am an active member of the Harrowby Singers and enjoy folk singing, accompanying myself on the guitar. I tap dance to keep myself fit, alongside walking for pleasure (mainly with the dog). I have been very fortunate to have had memorable walking experiences in the Himalayas and have visited several schools in Nepal. I have been lucky to have travelled widely visiting Thailand, Egypt, Canada and many other countries.

I have been asked to stand as a representative of the Church on the Governing Body of Denton and Harlaxton CE Schools, and sincerely hope I can contribute to the well running of the schools.
