My name is Cherry Edwards and I lived in Harlaxton for a number of years and still live in the Grantham area. I retired in December 2016 having been a Headteacher for thirty-four years. This included five headships covering rural and inner-city settings, with the last twelve years of my career serving as an Executive Headteacher in Lincolnshire. I was a National Leader of Education from 2008 and was awarded the OBE for services to education in 2014.
I am very pleased to be able to continue to make a contribution to education having originally been appointed as a Foundation Governor at our Federation of Harlaxton and Denton C of E Primary Schools. Since moving to another part of the Grantham area I have become a Co-opted Governor at our Federation of Schools.
As a Governor, I welcome the opportunity of working as part of a group of committed individuals to support the Executive Headteacher and her team in providing the highest quality education for all our pupils and supporting our families as we strive to embed all the teaching and learning at our schools within a Christian ethos.
I am married with two wonderful daughters and four fabulous grandchildren - two of whom attended Harlaxton during their primary school years and one who is currently attending at Denton. Now retired I am enjoying spending more time exercising, making new friends and doing the things that we love with my husband, family and our two dogs.
I am also currently a member of the Lincolnshire Diocesan Board of Education, Lincolnshire Standing Advisory Council on Religious Education and have current active participation in my local Church.
