Harvest service

Please enjoy our recording of our Harvest poem, a Harvest of Thanks.

English

We have been very busy in English reading and understanding the Great Kapok Tree, we have been working very hard on our handwriting.

Maths

In Maths, we have been working hard on place value to 1000! We have been using base ten, ones, part-part wholes and place value counters to strengthen our learning and become more independent.

Computing

Animation

The children have begun to understand animation and the common techniques used by animators. We have been comparing traditional animation methods and comparing these methods with using animation software (2Animate). We have also started to become familiar with onion skinning, and started to plan our own digital 2D animation.

RE

In RE, we have started learning about the key question:

"What does pilgrimage mean to individuals and communities?"

Art

In Art, we have really been enjoying learning about Romero Britto and his fantastic art! We have been experimenting with different pencil grades, tonal shading and art techniques such as cross-hatching, blending and stippling to decide which technique would be the most suitable for our final piece. We really enjoyed recreating jaguar fur, butterfly wings and tree back using different pencil grades. We also found it very interesting that you can use form to make a 2D circle look like a 3D sphere.

PSHE

As a class, we used the British values of Democracy, Mutual Respect and Tolerance to create our class rules.

We have enjoyed learning about our own personal identity and the importance of being a part of a diverse community.
