My name is Cherry Edwards and I live in Harlaxton. I retired in December 2016 having been a Headteacher for nearly thirty four years. This included five headships covering rural and inner city settings, with the last twelve years serving as an Executive Headteacher in Lincolnshire and National Leader of Education from 2008. I was awarded the OBE for services to education in 2014.
I am very pleased to be able to continue to make a contribution to education within my own community having now been appointed as a Foundation Governor at the Federation of Harlaxton and Denton C of E Primary Schools. As a Foundation Governor I welcome the opportunity of serving God by working as part of a group of committed individuals to support the Executive Headteacher and her team in providing the highest quality education for all our pupils and supporting our families. I did previously sit on the Governing Body of Harlaxton C of E Primary School during the time it became federated with Denton C of E Primary School.
Of course I wish to bring the experience and knowledge that I have within education to the role of governor, but I also have the excitement, love, passion and commitment to ensure that our young people, who are always the stars, receive the very best education possible.
I am married with two wonderful daughters and four fabulous grandchildren - two of whom attended Harlaxton during their primary school years. Now retired I am enjoying spending more time keeping fit, making new friends and doing the things that we love with my husband, family and our two dogs. I am also a member of the Lincolnshire Diocesan Board of Education and have current active participation in Harlaxton Church as well as being a member of the Parochial Church Council.
